Reviews of Cova Hotel San Francisco

Customer Rating:

Interesting neighborhod with good, cheap ethnic food, lots of homeless and beggars but we never felt unsafe, and only about a 10 minute walk to union square. Not too bad for $110 per night. The staff was helpful and rooms ar enice.

The hotel itself was nice and for the price very acceptable. If we were to point out the area in which the hotel was located however, we are discussing a different topic. The rooms were nice with a flat screen TV, comfortable bed, nice bathroom, there was a computer room that was nice.

As far as the location...lets just say that it was not in the best part of town and a lot of homeless people lived in the area

If you're looking for a hotel in a good price range, I would choose the Cova. The rooms are recently renovated and very nice. There's a good breakfast spread on the top floor each day and a 2 computer business room with printer.
The hotel staff was pretty good.
Unfortunately, the hotel is on the edge of a very bad area. There were lots of people yelling both nights we stayed and we were instructed to go 2 blocks up from Ellis (the hotel is on Ellis) before heading to Union Square to avoid the homeless people. I would not stay in this hotel again.

I highly recommend the Cova Hotel. Very clean, friendly, efficient staff, good location. I was disappointed there was no mirror in the outer room over the desk so that I could do hair and makeup there while the inner bathroom was in use...Very good value for the money.

I must admit that coming from an urban setting I don't understand what the big stink about the neighborhoodis. I never once feared for my safety and saw nothing that isn't common in for citites. The hotel rooms are designed in a contemporary minimalist style with all the stops pulled out. I booked the Equality for All Marriage package for my spouse and I which was to include a premium bottle of champagne and choocolates upon arrival. Through a glitch it wasn't set up in the reservation system that way. When I brought it to the attention of the marketing director as we were heading out to sightsee for the day he assured me that he would take care of it and upon our arrival back to the room it was waiting for us. Staff was very friendly and helpful and Anthony is always willing to escort you to your destination at night if you dont feel safe walking. The continental breakfast isn't to be missed! My only "complaint" is that the hotel is not air conditioned. At night it isn't an issue you can use the fans they provide in front of the open window. If you stay in the room during the day you may want to rethink this hotel...otherwise this is a bargin for the amount and would certainly stay here again.
