The hotel had decent amenities and a very nice, accomodating staff. It is located, however, in a very noisy section of the city. There was lots of loud music, shouting, and ambulance sirens (the hotel is near a fire station) all during the night. The noise issue is exacerbated by the fact the hotel doesn't have air conditioning (nor screens on the windows). So, in the summer months, expect noise and bugs. The hotel is obvioulsy aware of these issues as they provided sets of earplugs for the guests. Finally, the continental breakfast was a little skimpy; just hardboiled eggs, oatmeal, muffins and plain bagels. The beverage options were water, milk, coffee, and hot chocolate. Hmmm, maybe it's just the lack of food and sleep that is making me cranky.

The hotel was nice, and in an excellent location to hop on the cable car. It had a few down falls - the carpet seemed dirty, and mattress was very soft, but the staff was excellent. Jill and Fred, in particular, were exceedingly helpful and thoughtful in their assistance during our stay. We would recommend this hotel to the budget traveler.
