West Side Hotel is located on Manhattan's Upper West Side, in one of the city's most historical and trendy neighborhoods surrounded by restaurants, specialty shops and close to two magnificent parks, Central Park and Riverside Park. Oriented towards the budget conscious traveler, West Side Inn offers simple accommodations at an affordable rate. This tourist/student class hotel has 85 rooms and is in a 6-story building with Gothic Design and style. It features amenities such as a cable television, Internet access, concierge desk, 24 hr security and 24 hr reception desk to assist you with all your needs. Central Park and Riverside Park are both within a 10-minute walk of the hotel. West Side Hotel guestrooms have very basic furnishings that include cable TV, hair dryer, iron/ironing board but not a phone. Note that the guestrooms at the hotel do not have a private bathroom. Shared bathroom facilities are provided in the corridors of each floor. The hotel does have 24-hour reception, and it offers laundry facilities, Internet access, and safety deposit boxes. I'd recommend it to others because it is a great opportunity to visit New York City for a reasonnable price. The rooms need to be upgraded and something should be made as soundproffing is concerned !
On the whole, we're not disappointed.

They booked us into a room with only a bed and we went down to ask for a better room with a sink and possibly a fan. we got our broken sink and a broken air conditioner. The beds were hard as rocks and the sheets were dirty... the towels provided had stains. The staff were very considerate and helpful, however our experience as a whole with this hotel was a disaster-- we were waiting for the roaches to crawl out of the cracks in the walls. The bathrooms were dark and dreary and not very clean.
