The Grand Union hotel is located between Madison and Park Avenue, two blocks from the Empire State Building. The newly remodeled lobby and front desk create an elegant reception hall and the rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed. There's a nice cafe next door which is open unitl about 8pm, and there's plenty of other places to eat nearby too. You can walk to all of Manhattans attractions such as Times Square, Rockefeller Center and the Theater District and the Jacob Javits Convention Center is also within walking distance. The staff are helpful and well trained, so they help to make your stay as pleasant as possible. A good hotel without all the frills, but in a great location.

Reviews of Grand Union Hotel New York

Review by: Mary, Mercersburg, United States

Stayed: Mar 2008

Customer Rating:

I would recommend this hotel to others. It was clean, the rooms were of reasonable size. The only bad things were the sheets (clean but old and uncomfortable) and the the price. All hotels in Manhattan seem to be unreasonably expensive, but the good thing about this hotel is its location--as central as you can get, and within walking distance from Penn Station. Very nice cafe next door.

Customer Rating:

Although relatively small rooms and basic amenities the hotel more than makes up for it with its perfect location in Mid Manhatten to use as a base to see the rest of New York. The cafe next door is ideal for breakfast and the nearest subway is literally yards away. The hotel staff were very helpful and my wife and i would definitely stay there again!

the hotel was fine -- a good value considering most other hotels cost double or more at that time...it was clean and had all the necessities and in a good location.
