Centrally located, this grand historical hotel offers guests easy access to the Art Institute of Chicago, Symphony Center, and Sears Tower. Chicago's O'Hare airport is just 20 miles away and Midway just 10 miles away.

The hotel has many amenities, including The Gazebo Restaurant (a casual, convenient destination for breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and The Tavern Tap Pub (an evening retreat for draught beers, cocktails, and more). Off of the newly-renovated lobby, the new Rafael Steakhouse is also open and, weather-permitting, guests may dine on an outdoor cafe. Room service is also available.

I've always wanted to stay at the Congress because it looks so impressive from the outside but my stay left me less than impressed. On the positive side, they let me check in at noon. The bartender was really helpful and nice. On the negative side, this place needs a lot of work, particularly the bathrooms. It was very narrow and boxed and things were falling apart. The heavy shower knob fell off and almost broke my toes, water pressure was abysmal, temperature was off. The AC was average. Flooring and carpets had a very dirty and musty feel to it. Usually I dont notice these things but they did stand out this time. And my biggest grouse, I had booked for two regular beds and we were told thyat only rooms with a king size bed were availabale. They did give us a roll away bed for no cost.
